Donation
Financial donations of any size are welcome and make a real difference to the Museum’s work, from collection care and conservation to exhibitions, public programs and education. Donations can also be directed to specific projects at the request of the donor, with the agreement of the Museum’s Executive.
The Maritime Museum of Tasmania is registered under the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program as a Deductible Gift Recipient. Eligible donations may be tax deductible.
Gifting objects
The Museum accepts gifts of objects, documents and artefacts relating to Tasmanian maritime history, where they meet the Museum’s Acquisition and Collection Policy.
Gifts to the collection may be tax deductible under the provisions of the Income Tax Assessment Act, subject to certain conditions. We’re happy to explain the process and potential benefits of donating collection material to the Museum.
Make a bequest
Bequests have played an important role in the Museum’s history. Gifts of collection material, money and property help us keep Tasmania’s maritime stories accessible for future generations.
Financial bequests can support key conservation and restoration projects, while gifts of objects can strengthen the Museum’s collection.
If you’re considering leaving a bequest to the Maritime Museum of Tasmania, it’s important that your will is clear and concise so your wishes can be followed.
