Donation

Financial donations are welcomed and can be allocated to specific projects at the request of the donor and with the agreement of the Museum’s Executive.

Your financial contribution, no matter the size, will directly support our efforts to conserve and promote our unique maritime heritage.

Maritime Museum Tasmania is registered under the Australian Government's Cultural Gifts Program as a Deductible Gift Recipient.

Gifting objects

We accept gifts of objects, documents and artefacts relating to Tasmanian maritime history and that meet the Museum's Acquisition and Collection Policy. These donations are tax deductible under the provisions of the Income Tax Assessment Act subject to certain conditions. The Museum is happy to explain the procedures and benefits of donating to the collection to potential donors.

Make a bequest

Throughout our history, we have received bequests of collection material, money and property. The gifts we receive from individuals help us ensure our collections are comprehensive and accessible. Every gift is appreciated enormously.

Financial bequests enable us to undertake key conservation and restoration projects. If you decide to leave a bequest to the Museum, it is important that your will is clear and concise, to ensure that your original intentions are followed.
