Tasmanian Yachting Hall of Fame

Tasmania has a long and colourful history in yachting. From Olympians and winners of world championships and the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race to legendary boat designers and builders, Tasmania has long been at the forefront of the sport in Australia and internationally.

We have also provided administrators and officials to the sport nationally and internationally, a situation recognised by World Sailing, the peak body of the sport.

In 2010 the then Yachting Tasmania Board decided to celebrate the history of yachting by establishing the Tasmanian Yachting Hall of Fame. Over the ensuing years the Hall of Fame has sought to celebrate the past as well as recognising contemporary achievements through annual inductions.

The list in the link below celebrates the best of our sport in an accessible way. There is also an honour board hosted by The Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania in Sandy Bay, where the names of inductees and their year of induction is displayed. Visitors are warmly encouraged to see the honour board in the flesh.
