School Visits
We welcome hundreds of students and teachers every year and we’re always here to help you plan an experience to remember.
The museum invites educators to promote discovery and wonder and foster critical and creative thinking with a visit to the Maritime Museum. Our school tours support classroom programs and curriculum and provides students with an exciting opportunity to explore Tasmania’s maritime heritage.
The museum is bursting with educational opportunities for school students and offers truly unique onsite, enjoyable and engaging experiences for students and teachers alike.
Make a booking
To make an enquiry or to book your tour you can telephone the museum (03) 6234 1427, email us at admin@maritimetas.org or complete the online booking form below.
The museum is wheelchair accessible and coach parking is available outside the museum on Argyle Street. Due to space restrictions within the galleries the museum asks that schools limit the size of each group visiting to one class (20 to 25 pupils) at a time, so pre-booking a fortnight in advance is essential.
To best support your students, we ask that for primary aged groups teachers have a minimum ratio of 1 adult to 5 children. Expect a visit to take about forty-five minutes.
We charge a fee of $80 per class or $5 per child (teachers, parents, grand-parents who happen to have been caught in the wake are free), whichever is less.
What you should bring:
