We're pleased to present a session focused on Tas Maritime Radio and their remarkable work, by co-founder Barry McCann.

Tas Maritime Radio provides safety communication services to mariners throughout Tasmania and is the only official Coast Radio Service in the state. This network is made possible through the support of a dedicated crew of volunteers, who are on deck every day of the year.

Barry's technical career started at 7HT and whilst manager there, he joined forces in 1975 with the late Les Collis to establish a radio network for pleasure craft. Barry worked to build up the service from 14 boats to what it is today, a network of over 1,200 boats. In 2010, Barry was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for services to maritime communications.

Note: there is no need to pre-register for this event, just turn up!
