The
Wooden Boat Guild of Tasmania has recently succeeded in having the
Terra Linna circa 1880 added
to the Australian National Maritime Museum's Historic Vessel Register. We are
very proud of this recognition as it shows the vessel's importance to both the state's and
national Maritime Heritage and culture and the worth of the restoration project.
The Wooden Boat Guild is now inviting you to participate in our sponsorship program to
gain additional funds to complete restoration work to allow her to sail again.
To date, amongst other preparations, the Guild has raised in excess of $10,000 for
restoration work on the Terra Linna.
In the time the Guild has owned the Terra Linna its worth has been recognised by
the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) making 2 grants to the WBGT project to ensure its history and
lines are preserved. The Wooden Boat Guild of Tasmania has met the ANMM requirements by writing its
history and taking off and recording her lines accurately. Following this the Guild has commissioned
the building of a scale model of the yacht which has been presented to the Maritime Museum Tasmania.
The next phase is to restore the yacht to its previous sailing condition.
We are seeking sponsors to provide financial support or sponsor the material to enable the
yacht Terra Linna to be sailed again by the community of Tasmania.
Your involvement would gain public recognition at
and beyond the re-launch of the yacht Terra Linna through your name being on display on the
yacht and at festivals such as the Australian Wooden Boat Festival.
We will gladly accept donations in cash or kind.
Donations can be made by downloading this form, filling it out and posting or
emailing it to the Guild.
